Monster Cookies For Every Holiday
Monster cookies are a top-rated treat in our family! This post contains our favorite recipe for soft, fluffy cookies that are full of chocolate chips and m&m’s. My kids love the extra touch of m&m candies!
I love this recipe because it’s easy to make, has simple ingredients, my kids can help me, and we can change up the m&m’s to fit whatever holiday or theme we are celebrating! We make these cookies for parties, school events, afternoon treats and share them with our friends and neighbors. You’re going to want to keep this recipe ready for your parties too!
Tips, Tricks & Modifications for Monster Cookies
- You can easily make these cookies gluten free by using a 1:1 gluten free baking flour. Our two favorite brands are King Arthur Measure For Measure Flour and Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free 1:1 Baking Flour. I made the cookies in these pictures using King Arthur Measure For Measure Gluten Free Flour.
- If you are looking to make this recipe with dairy free chocolate, consider using Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips and these chocolate candies to replace the M&M’s. Both are nut free, dairy free, gluten free and soy free!
- Change up the M&M’s to match the current holiday colors and theme.
- Don’t overbake the cookies. Slightly underbake them, pull them out of the oven, and let them cool on the pan to finish. Perfection!
- Refridgerate or freeze the dough for about 30 minutes to an hour before baking. This helps the cookies not spread on the pan when you bake them. They tend to be fluffier and fuller!
- Add a few m&m’s on top of the dough before they go into the oven!
Tools You May Need:
- Mixing Bowls
- Stackable Cooling Racks
- Measuring spoons & cups
- Stand Mixer
- Cookie dough scoop
- Cookie Spatula
- Baking Sheets
- Use these baking sheets for gluten free monster cookies. GF cookies bake up better on sheets without rims for more even cooking!
Monster Cookie Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups of all purpose flour (or gluten free 1:1 flour)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cups brown sugar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 package vanilla instant pudding
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup M&M’s
Monster Cookie Baking Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375*F.
- Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl (or stand mixer), beat together butter, sugars, vanilla, and pudding mix. Beat until smooth and creamy.
- Beat in eggs. DO NOT OVERMIX THE EGGS!
- Add flour mixture in and combine.
- Stir in chocolate chips and m&ms. Save a few m&ms to put on the top of each dough ball before baking.
- Place dough in refridgerator or freezer for 30mins-1 hour. (skipping this step may results in cookies that are thin and spread out on the pan)
- Place heaping tablespoons of dough onto an ungreased baking sheet and bake until golden, approximately 8-10 minutes.
- Take out of oven and let sit for 2 minutes on baking sheet before transferring to cooling rack. This lets the cookies continue baking and “set” so they don’t fall apart when you transfer them.
- Enjoy and share with a friend!
